Like a pot that goes on the stove, into the oven, and over campfires? You can’t be happier with this Lodge Logic Dutch Oven.

It comes pre-seasoned with vegetable oil, but if you’re particular about this you can spend some time curing it again yourself. That makes it totally non-stick so you can use it to fry chicken and not get spatters of oil on your stove top because of the sides.

I personally prefer to use this Lodge Logic Dutch Oven for slow cooking. My chicken and beef pot roast turned out like no other electrical slow cooker can make – with a homemade taste to it! Although the steam from stews and chillis do take a bit off the seasoned finish of the lid, I find it easy to scrub off and seasoned again.

The flat bottom of this dutch oven makes it convenient for ovens and broilers. I like to make braised dishes and casseroles with this pot too. The lid fits snugly so the moisture is sealed in, keeping the taste and quality intact.

On the other hand, the Lodge Logic Dutch Oven is heavy. Be careful not to dump this thing on your ceramic stovetop. If you think you’re not up to carrying such a big lump of cast iron, maybe you can get the smaller 5-quart one.

For those who haven’t bothered to read my cast iron cookware reviews page, cast iron cookware is not dishwasher safe!
